Creating a great poster

Poster sections recommended to include in your poster:

  1. Title (with names of authors and affiliations)

  2. Introduction

    a. Summarize Problem and Objectives

  3. Methods

  4. Results

  5. Conclusion

  6. References

  7. Acknowledgments

  8. Contact information (including QR code)

When putting your poster together, it is important to also remind yourself about

  • Organization. Tell a story! Make sure to draw attention to the problem, methodology, and conclusions.

  • Remember your audience. It is essential to keep in mind that your audience is primarily fellow undergraduate physics majors.

  • Keep it succinct. Write concise explanations for the abstract, methodology, and results. It needs to have enough details so that a visitor can quickly understand the basic idea even if you are not there to explain it. Save detailed explanations for people passing by your poster.

  • Resolution of your images! Make sure to follow our guidelines for a good resolution for your poster.

  • Poster size. The poster board is 30"x40", so the poster size should not exceed that.
